Joshua Tree National Park - Artist in Residence Day 9

Collaborative Painting Day

Today was another full day of painting with 6th graders.  We made significant progress, but there is still work to be done before these are finished.  We're down to some of the more detailed parts, which take so much more time to cover so much less surface area.  Distinctly tedious, but the kids had some great focus on attention to detail.

I had a lovely treat this evening: friends from the time I spent living in Palo Alto, CA were passing through on a road trip, so stopped in to camp a night in Black Rock.  Always so good to see this family, that feels like my family, even if the time was brief.  Much chatting, catching up, nerding over camping gear, astronomy apps, constellations, planet identifications, and other good stuff.  Thank you, Colemans!
